This video says a lot about the entire fat shaming controversy that's been going on. Curvy and full figured isn't a bad thing. Using a hover round to make your way through a grocery store because you're morbidly obese is an issue. Has anyone seen the movie Wall E? Yeah pretty sure most people would agree that's a dismal future. There is a clear difference between being body positive and promoting a unhealthy life style. Btw screw anyone who thinks health equals any of the following, thigh gaps, visible ribs, visible abs, visible sunken cheek bones. If you think this way, you have body dysmorphia and should get that checked out. As someone who's struggled with bulimic tendencies the image the media portrays is in no way healthy. I really hope this is seen, because although the video just talks about cis women, men struggle with this issue too. I've spent too much time with a toothbrush down my throat purging because of a comment someone made about my weight. Now I embrace it, and believe it or not I'm actually not attracted to the stereotypical twinky guy. I love me a beefcake. Be you, but also understand the meaning of true health. Also if you are a cute twink good for you! Some people have remarkable metabolisms and self discipline. Just don't be a dick about it. Otherwise you're just as beautiful!

Okay. Sorry about all the fat person posting stuff. Here's all I'm going to say about it. I stepped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh-in and the results were less then flattering, and the fattest I've been in the whole, "I-can't-stop-gaining-the-weight-back" phase. It is so damn easy and stress free to be fat. If being fat didn't feel good, people wouldn't be fat. *duh* Now as someone who has lost a ton of weight the "right" way, I can tell you that losing weight is the hardest most horrible un-fun demeaning, depressing and damaging process I have ever undergone. To put it into perspective for you, I would rather my husband he tells me he doesn't love me 1000 times over then spend one more second of my life trying to be fit and healthy. I don't know why fit, or healthy people can't seem to understand that you are ALWAYS reminded that you're fat. Walking, talking, eating, changing clothes, showering, reflective surfaces, media, social media, photos and pretty much just anything. People know they are fat, and when they decide to change it, they have to go through hell and back about a million times (hell meaning the gym) to achieve it. Then they tell you that you need to change everything you like about food. You think trying to get a toddler to eat their vegetables is hard, trying telling a grown man that he has to change 90% of what he puts in his mouth and give up alcohol all together. Keep in mind that he probably has friends that don't have to give up anything and remain in society's good gracious. Now, lets make the situation worse. Now you're telling that person he has to do it for the rest of their life. Not just a few weeks, but for 365 days until the day he dies. Losing weight is horrible, being fat is a shit ton easier. I've seen very few people succeed at losing weight. I've seen even fewer lose it and keep it off. So before you post about a video about "You did this to yourself" please remember that you don't know what that person has done to change it. Losing weight is not like you're quitting a bad habit. Because you don't need a cigarette. You need food to live and every time you're a little hungry. . .you have to make the hardest choice of your life and you have to do it a couple times a day. Keep in mind that before you eat. . .you're reminded that you're fat, and society does not think you're good enough. That's fat shaming. It only has a little to do with what you look like, it has everything to do with what it feels like. I'm sorry to say "fitness people", but my heart rate being up while I feel like I'm climbing mount Everest on a stair master does not make me feel alive. All it makes me want to do is be fat. . .and guess what. . .there's nothing wrong with that. You can't shame people for something that is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do. Losing weigh is like winning the lottery. Some people are lucky enough to have a life that has circumstances that are conducive to healthy eating and activity. Then you have almost everyone else. |
