I need to clarify something. My relationship advice posts are all stem from the same foundation of love.
What is love?
I usually talk about three different kinds of love. Basic love, true love and everlasting love.
Love itself is the feeling you get when your crush texts you or when the person you like makes you feel like they have eyes for only you. We all know that love. That kind of love is easy and to be honest, it can happen with almost anyone. People can even stay in a bad relationship because they feel this is the only kind of love they deserve.
True love is everything. . . It's mutual. It's mutual. IT IS MUTUAL! It is forgiving. It is kind. It is motivating. It is what a marriage SHOULD be based off of. It's being vulnerable. It's the comfortability of knowing that someone out there has put you first before all else. It's the kind of relationship you want to invite children into. It's the kind of relationship that has so many unspoken trusts and truths that you wonder why you got so lucky. It finally becomes about how they feel versus how you feel. You can count on this kind of love. It's dependable. It's undeniable. It's right and knows know race, religion, age or gender. It exist because it's a shared goal between individuals and they created this kind of love without even knowing it was happening.
Everlasting love is elusive. It's the kind of love that implies you will be together forever. This is the kind of love that's built on true love. You know that this person is your one and only. You lose all questions and doubts. You don't need them anymore because this relationship is fulfilling and they will rarely let you down. The kind of love is elusive because it can't be sought after. It will come to you when everything is right. Yes, you'll still have problems, fights and arguments but it's how you handle the bad moments along with the good that changes everything.
Bottom line: Falling in love is easy, that's why they call it falling. True love can be harsh but it's dependable and unbelievably kind. When you look at someone and feel your heart beat in that moment, you know that's love. When you know their heart beats for you in that same instance, that's true love. When you no longer have to listen because they have given you their heart AND yours to them, THAT is everlasting love.
